The Library serves as the pacemaker of academic activities in the institution The General Library along with seventeen department Libraries serves all the stakeholders of the institution in the best possible way to read, upgrade and entertain themselves Since its Inception in 1971 the Library mainly comprises of Books of various categories along with Journals, Magazines and other E-Resources.
Books - Text Books are still the major source of learning along with Reference and general Books. The collection sizes up to 31609 as of now.
Textbooks – 22022
Reference books – 5728
General & Subject oriented Books – 3860.
Journals -At least one journal for one major, nearly 27 National and International Journals are subscribed depending on the fund availability.
Magazines & Newspapers – Two English dailies and Three Tamil are made available along with a number of magazines in both the languages
The NLIST consortium is subscribed to utilize the 600+ E-Journals and 97000+ E-Books provided by the INFLIBNET at a nominal price for Government college.
Rules & Regulations
- As per norms the DCE rules are followed for the smooth functioning of the Library.
- • The Students are free to visit the library from 9.00Am to 4.00Pm.
- • Student will be issued only one book at a time for a period of one week
- • Staff can have three books for a period of one month.
- • Students and Staff are insisted to handle the books carefully.
- • Folding, tearing the pages and underlining the words are strictly prohibited.
The General Library is automated with “Microspark” Library software to ease the day to day clerical works. The students and staff visit registering and Book issue is being automated and the whole process is going to be completed soon.
Other Facilites –
The General Library has Internet connectivity to help the students and staff to browse and access online Resources. Reprography facility is available in the campus at a nominal cost for the welfare of the students
Librarian Day Function –
The Librarian Day function was scheduled to be celebrated on 10 August 2018 [August 12 Sunday] but due to circumstances it was celebrated on 03 October 2018 with the District Collector Dr K.S.Palanisamy IAS as the chief Guest who distributed the prizes for the various competitions held for the occasion of Librarian Day. He insisted the requirement of Reading habit among the students and explained the different methods for the preparation of service Examinations.
