The PG and Research Department of English, incepted in the academic year 1977 -1978 has been incessantly rendering its noble service of inculcating proficiency in English Literature and language skills. The UG Programme was started in 1977 and the PG programme was incepted in 2003.

The UG and PG students of this department bring in regular awards and accolades in the form of university ranks. The students are also encouraged to excel in co-curricular activities like paper presentation in seminars and conferences. In fact, the department owns its pride of having placed its students in lucrative IT jobs, HR companies, Teaching and Training firms. Some of the students are also employed as teachers, guest lecturers and assistant professors in reputed colleges.
In 2014, the department had obtained its research recognition status from Directorate of Collegiate Education, Chennai and Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Since then the PG and Research Department of English is has been edifying its dynamism in the pursuit of potential research pursued under MPhil / PhD programmes offered by the department. The able research supervisors and well learned faculty of the department precociously guide the scholars towards innovative and productive research in English Literature and Language.
